Marriage decision rolls into raucous Atlanta rally

Excitement only grew on Friday as Decision Day in Atlanta moved from morning jubilation to afternoon exultation as gay Atlanta took its reaction to nationwide legal marriage equality en masse to downtown.

The first stop was downtown for Georgia Equality’s rally at the Center for Civil & Human Rights. Scores of LGBT and allied people gathered with their rainbow flags for hugs between friends, kisses between couples and speeches from activists and political types including GE’s Jeff Graham, lesbian state Rep. Karla Drenner, and gay Atlanta City Council member Alex Wan.

After his remarks, Wan asked his longtime partner Joe Bechely to marry him. Like the Supreme Court, Bechely said yes to marriage. Just add them to the list. Atlanta's celebration continued after the rally with a Midtown street party.
