Manly Miss America raises big bucks for PALS

Hot abs. Biceps. Pecs and glutes. The hot bodies of Atlanta gay jocks were on full display in skimpy swimsuits on Saturday at Jungle. In drag. Cue hilarity during the first PALS Manly Miss America pageant.

The first-time pageant shook up the fundraising roster for the gay-beloved Pets Are Loving Support. The burly drag show assigned a home state to each contestant, who in turn raised funds via online votes before the contest then presented them in swimsuits and evening gowns. Kevin DeLoach, who raised $1,200 as Miss Texas, took the crown and title of PALS Spokes Queen. The overall event raised $10,000 and secured its place in the annual lineup of PALS fundraisers, says Kevin Bryant, PALS executive director.

Don’t touch that dial. The organization that helps critically ill people keep their pets continues putting the fun in fundraising on Wednesday with Super Hero Bingo at Jungle.
