A diverse set of LGBT supporters descended on Lilburn’s Skate-A-Long roller rink Sunday to lace up and wheel into comical games and contests at the Love Skate fundraising event.
Organized by Jungle’s Brad Williams and the gang from his Cheshire Bridge corridor neighbors at the Heretic, Love Skate brought back roller disco memories for about 50 people working to regain the sure footing they had on wheels in the ‘80s.
Plenty found enough solid ground to compete in events like how-low-can-you-go limbo (top photo) and drag roller derby girl races led by Eve Michaels (second photo). Some even wore costumes (bottom photo) to kick the spirit of the event into high gear.
Everyone channeled their inner kid as they helped raise money and awareness for CHRIS Kids, a gay-inclusive organization with multiple programs designed to aide Georgia children in need.
It was so fun that Williams and company are already planning their next outing. Look for another Love Skate in April to benefit Pets Are Loving Support.
