LGBTQ jocks bring first signs of spring to Q mag

Even if the weather can’t decide, queers in Atlanta are ready for spring. Local LGBTQ sports leagues take over this issue previewing their season of games and socials.

Who better to lead the way than National Flag Football League of Atlanta? In this week’s cover feature, meet five NFFLA players in our latest photo essay by James L. Hicks, and  learn why this season is setting records even before they take the field.

We follow that up with a comprehensive roundup of the other queer leagues on ATL fields, courts, gyms, playgrounds and pools all season. We also meet Atlanta United’s LGBTQ fan group All Stripes, which hosts watch parties and tailgates beginning this weekend.

Meanwhile, downtime of an entirely different nature is prepped and ready at Aurora Theatre. Welcome to a 1950s musical where marrying a millionaire is still a goal for its song-and-dance inclined stars, but with a gay twist.

Of course, local life is not all football and musicals. As always, this week’s Q also offers the Queer Agenda calendar of events, Q Shots photos, Q Voices opinions, and The Q advice column.
