The LGBT holigays reached their charity peak on Sunday as a crowd expected to reach the thousands brought truckloads of gifts for needy children and then partied hard at the 12th Annual Toy Party & Silent Auction.
The big gay charity event unfolded across two floors of Americas Mart 3 in downtown Atlanta, with the help of Electric Avenue, DJ Sed, scores of volunteers, a silent auction, a VIP lounge and plenty of cocktails and tasty treats.
Toy Party originated in 2003 with a group of gay friends that later turned into For The Kid In All Of Us, the non-profit that now operates the event. Before Sunday's party, the event had donated more than 45,000 toys and gift cards, and more than $474,000 to charities.
The toys and gift cards donated to the event are distributed to 21 non-profit agencies that serve children in need across Georgia, including AGAPE Community Center, AID Atlanta, All About Developmental Disabilities, Atlanta Children’s Shelter, Camp Horizon, Childkind, CHRIS Kids, Cool Girls, Inc., Decatur Housing Authority, Devereux Georgia, East Lake Foundation, Easter Seals Foundation of North Georgia, Families First, FCS Urban Ministries, Fulton Juvenile Court, Hillside, Jerusalem House, Latin American Association, Lutheran Services of Georgia, Our House, Safe Path and Malachi Storehouse at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church.
