A lesbian commander with the DeKalb County Police Department was jailed on Monday after a contentious court hearing in which she was accused of letting stolen property collect at her Clayton County home. Capt. Suzanne Kaulbach was jailed on charges of theft by receiving after police discovered a boat, two all terrain vehicles, fishing equipment and more items that they say were stolen from neighbors. Police seized the items in May during a sweep of the Lakeside Community property that Kaulbach shares with her partner and several teens. Kaulbach argued (video above) during the hearing that she was unaware the items were stolen. Neighbors aren’t so sure. When the six-hour warrant application hearing ended, a Clayton judge ordered Kaulbach arrested. She’s not charged with the thefts, but with knowingly housing the stolen property. A DeKalb police spokesperon told WSB that Kaulbach was placed on administrative leave.
