Lesbian boxers go three rounds for charity

Don King would be proud.

The outspoken boxing promoter wasn’t ringside on Saturday to see it, but a handful of lesbians strapped on head gear, chomped on mouth pieces, pulled on gloves and stepped into a makeshift ring on the deck of My Sisters Room to box.

Some of the participants made it through the three-round contests, while others threw in the towel after absorbing a few punches while a capacity crowd looked on. The competition was all in fun as it helped raise funds for a Hotlanta Softball League team heading to the Softball World Series this fall.

HSL’s Gamma holds the event every year as they ramp up for the championships of the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America, which are set for Sept. 1-6 in Madison.
