The Eagle turns 31. A queer feminist collective meets at the intersection of art and identity. A second new gay bar in as many weeks gets the nod. Must be time for another edition of Q magazine, which is here for all of it and for you!
It’s down to a thing I call The Love, and we show it for LGBTQ Atlanta every week in every way we can. So with Latinx, leather, libations and love, “The L Word” isn’t just for lesbians any more, though of course you’ll find those LGBTQ-ATLiens on our pages this week as well.
This week's love goes out to Ni Aquí Ni Allá in our Cover Story of vibrant photos by Patricia Villafane and an interview by Sunni Johnson. The artists' group name means “Neither Here Nor There,” and their group show next week explores queer, Latinx and feminist cultures.
There’s a very different queer event landing at the Eagle in our Events section packing this weekend. As the venue celebrates its anniversary, Southeast Black & Blue throws celebrations including the Mr. and Ms. Atlanta Eagle title contests.
To get you in the mood, we explore reasons to try leather at least once in 10 Queer Things. It’s so hot, you may need a drink. Lucky there are two new gay bars in the works. Read all about the guys who bought Burkhart's, just days after nightlife vets took over Midtown Tavern.
Spreading the love further, columnist Ian Aber explores the connection queers have to pop culture in Voices, and readers in The Q advice column face discordant relationships.
This and every week, look to the Queer Agenda for upcoming events, Q Shots for community photos, and here on Project Q Atlanta for fresh daily content. Like what you see? Have suggestions for coverage? Write me any time at [email protected].
Q is available at LGBTQ and queer-friendly outlets around town. Read the digital version below:
