Karen Handel oozes her anti-gay into Georgia’s GOP Senate race

Chick-fil-A champion Karen Handel made it official on Friday: She's ramping up her brand of red meat, anti-gay sleaze to run for Georgia's open Senate seat. Oh, joy.

Handel was proudly half of one of the most anti-gay statewide campaigns in Georgia in 2010 when she narrowly lost to Gov. Nathan Deal. Now the formerly gay-friendly Fulton County Commissioner is jumping into the GOP primary to replace not gay U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is retiring rather than try to convince voters that he's anti-gay enough. (He is.) She's been pondering ther race since late last year.

"I think one of the great advantages I will have in this race is that I really am battle-tested," Handel tells WSB.

True. But she hasn't had to face Rep. Paul Broun's boy penis, either.
