imageAtlanta fave DJ Mike Pope warmed them up and Seth Cooper (second photo) finished them off Saturday as another sold-out Joining Hearts rocked the Piedmont Park pool during the summer’s biggest party with a purpose.

The 24th rendition of the annual fundraiser unfolded during a scorching Saturday afternoon and evening, capped with fireworks about 10 p.m. that signaled the near-end of another successful event raising funds for Jerusalem House and AID Atlanta.

imageA final tally wasn’t available on Monday, but with the extensive build-up to Saturday’s event by the volunteer run non-profit that hosts it, it won’t be a surprise if the crowd topped 1,000 people and the day pushed the fundraising tally past last year’s record of $125,000.

Before Saturday’s earnings even gets added to the totals, Joining Hearts has donated more than $1.15 million for the two HIV charities in its history.

“Those big checks we present every year directly impact people’s lives,” Pope told us ahead of the event.

imageSaturday’s event contributes the largest chunk of Joining Hearts’ annual giving, but the hours-long event isn’t the only piece. On July 10, organizes thanked their patrons, volunteers and sponsors during a swanky affair at Urban Body Studios that came complete with a silent auction to raise funds.

The patron party was just the latest in a slow and steady build up to the main event. There was the Independence Beach Blast earlier this month, a Memorial Day beach party, their keg-tapping good time in early May, the Change of Seasons Tea Dance on April 17 and the Freemasons performance on April 22.

imageIn February, they hosted Love on the Rocks over Valentine’s Weekend. They rallied volunteers and hosts during an event in January and benefitted from Party Like a Rockstar 5.0 on New Year’s Eve.

Joining Hearts rounded out 2010 with their Wish List Party in mid December.
