It may seem like only yesterday that Joining Hearts broke its own big gay record with $250,000 in donations to HIV/AIDS housing in Atlanta and wrapped its year with a Wish List bow. Well, that was then. Joining Hearts 2013 starts now.
Year-round fundraising by the gay-led Atlanta event series started anew on Sunday with the annual Love on the Rocks party. We warned you, and we were right: Hundreds of guests donned their cutest looks and hit the Valentine-themed event at Room & Board for top-shelf cocktails, munchies, a silent auction and music by DJ Mike Pope.
A goal of $30,000 to kick off Joining Hearts’ 26th year looked well within reach by party’s end, according to a statement organizers posted to supporters on Facebook.
The Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who attended Love On The Rocks. Your generosity shows no bounds and preliminary totals show that we are on track to surpass last year’s numbers – possibly making 2013 our best year ever for this event!
