The biggest, gayest charity pool party of the year unfolded Saturday at Piedmont Park, with a sold-out crowd, two DJs, dancing queens and enough cocktails to fill the massive pool.
DJ Luis Perez took the early shift of the seven-hour spectacle, with Joe Gauthreaux taking control of the DJ platform as the sun went down and the party really got cranked up. The main event of the Joining Hearts' fundraising season helps pile up the cash for two HIV non-profits -- AID Atlanta and Jerusalem House. Last year, Joining Hearts donated a record $250,000 to its beneficiaries.
How did we get to Saturday's ab fest? A nearly year-long buildup that included beer busts, a sexy-sudsy car wash, a beach party, Sunday tea with cocktails, Love on the Rocks, and a party to launch ticket sales. Oh, the sexy things those Joining Hearts gays love.
Events Director Heath Loupe offered this thanks on Sunday:
