Joining Hearts does Sunday tea with cocktails

Before they splash in Piedmont Park, the gay boys who fundraise for HIV non-profits through Joining Hearts must first change seasons. As in tea dance. With Atlanta DJs and cocktails at an upscale Midtown hotel.

They put their Love on the Rocks in time for Valentine’s Day. So it’s fitting that Joining Hearts and hundreds of supporters gathered on Sunday for Change of Seasons to dance and drink to welcome spring, which has offered Atlanta a halting start. DJs Mike Pope and Lydia Prim offered the beats at the Loews Atlanta Hotel.

It’s all part of a fun windup to the main event — Joining Hearts 26, which is July 20 in the park’s aquatic center. The funds raised there benefit AID Atlanta and Jerusalem House. Before that, though, Joining Hearts will be honored at HRC Atlanta’s gala dinner next month.

Even with a little rain, Sunday’s event proved successful.
