Johnny Hazzard is used to taking his clothes off. But now, the popular gay porn star wants to help you put clothes on. His new line of eco-friendly t-shirts to be exact. And he’s coming to Atlanta this week to help you get dressed.

He’s OK with you, ahem, reflecting on his eight years in porn doing just about everything imaginable with his naked, lean and tattooed body. As long as you do it while wearing one of his organic t-shirts from Ruff Riders. You’ve enjoyed Hazzard getting tapped on screen. Now it’s time to enjoy watching what happens when he taps his inner artist and green geek.

“I’ve always been a bit of an environmentalist,” Hazzard says by phone from Dallas where he kicked off a promotional tour for his Ruff Riders line. “You don’t have much of an arena to voice it in the porn industry. I’ve always wanted to have a small clothing line. So I’ve incorporated two of my passions. Green is hot. It’s a natural progression and an obvious thing for me to do.”

Hazzard’s says he’s known the guys behind the Fort Lauderdale-based Ruff Riders for years, even before his porn debut with Chi Chi LaRue’s Channel 1 Releasing in 2003. They’ve tried to partner on a clothing line in the past, but it wasn’t until recently that the pieces fell together to create a trio of cotton blend t-shirts from recycled products. The designs include one with an eye chart, another with a recycling symbol and a third with an organic stamp and Ruff Riders logo (second photo).

“People seem to like the design. We haven’t been around long enough to judge how sales are going. It is all just really new. The response has been good and hopefully that will translate into some good sales,” Hazzard sales.

But wait, no Johnny Hazzard jockstrap?

“You can’t get organic Spandex,” he quips.

So as Hazzard winds down his award-winning porn career, sadly for fans, he’s winding up his efforts to launch the clothing line. That’s what brings him to Atlanta this week for two stops. On Wednesday, it’s as a guest star for Big Gay Game Show. On Thursday, he’ll stop by Boy Next Door from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to show off the t-shirts, sign autographs and do just about anything but dance shirtless on a box. He did that during his last visit to an Atlanta bar some years ago.

“I am trying to sell t-shirts, so walking around a club with no shirt defeats that purpose. The money in porn is nothing like it used to be. I’ve been winding it down for a while now. I just haven’t been that verbal about it. That is my job now – to try and get people’s focus away from one thing and into the next. That is going to take some time,” Hazzard says.

You might catch Hazzard in a new video, but think drag queens and Boy George. Hazzard struck up a friendship with the pop icon when, ironically, he was dancing on a box in a New York City gay club. A friendship blossomed, George asked Hazzard to be the face of his now-defunct B-Rude clothing line, and late last year, offered Hazzard a cameo in “You Ruined My Xmas” (video below). George directed the campy video featuring the drag troupe Supreme Fabulettes. And Hazzard is in London this week to shoot a follow up with George and the queens.

“I’ve always been an art guy. Since I’ve been a little kid, I’ve always been creating stuff,” Hazzard says. Now it just happens to be G-rated.
