No more living in sin for Olympic figure skater Jonny Weir, who made an honest man of his Atlanta attorney boyfriend during a courthouse marriage on Friday. Well that was quick.
We just met cutie Victor Voronov and his pup Togo when Weir swept through Atlanta last month for a CNN Dialogues panel on LGBT issues. Weir announced in October that he was engaged, though the flamboyant skater with his own reality show was coy about identifying his flame.
Instead he laid a trail of breadcrumbs on Twitter, exchanging lovey dovey tweets with Voronov, who tweeted right back.
Weir has said he avoided outing Voronov, since the 28-year-old is newly out and having a tough time coming to terms with being gay. Guess he got over it, because there they were -- Weir and Voronov getting hitched on Friday at a courthouse in New York City with parents of both men on hand.
Weir’s announcement came in a series of tweets beginning Saturday:
I’m married. Wedding in summer! But all the official stuff is done now! No more livin' in sin! Thank you to everyone for your well wishes to me and @vitya_zvesda! It means a lot to have your blessings! Mama loves you! After the ceremony, the pair jetted off to the Dominican Republic for a honeymoon in Punta Cana (photo). Maybe they ran into CNN anchor Don Lemon. The pair decided on Weir-Voronov for their surname, but the Olympian will use Weir professionally. The trickier question? Where to send wedding gifts. Weir lives in New Jersey; Voronov lives in Atlanta. Maybe not for long. Voronov’s Twitter profile says he’s “prepping for the Jersey Bar in 2012.” Photo of Voronov (left) and Weir via @vitya_zvesda
