It’s tradition: Gay Atlanta’s Thanksgiving Eve

The long weekend is upon us, and at Thanksgiving, you might need to buffer family annoyances in advance with a little gay. Or a lot. Stay put on Wednesday for gay Atlanta’s parties, shows and special events.

Before the overeating, napping or cheering through football, glitterbombing your un-gay family and Black Friday retail therapy, in Atlanta we kick off Thanksgiving Weekend and the holiday season with boys, booze, beats and… bowling? Yes!

Whether you’re in town all weekend or plan to only do family on Thursday, the LGBT-ATL fills our Gay Agenda with options for Wednesday night. Your favorite bar is pouring ramped up holiday editions of weekly shows and parties, and here are your best bets for special events and Thanksgiving theme nights:

Turkey Bowl is the annual three-game bowling party with the gay Dixie Invitational Bowling Tournament. It features the insane but totally fun annual turkey toss @ Midtown Bowl, 7 p.m.

Big Gay Game Show: Thanksgiving Edition Don’t be a turkey. Get your ’70s classic game shows on stage with a gay twist, local gay celebs and local gay contestants. It all benefits Lost N Found Youth each month @ Jungle, doors 7 p.m.; show 8 p.m.

DJ Sin Morera for Joining Hearts. The internationally renowned spin master (second photo) returns to burn up the dance floor at the annual jam-packed throwdown (top photo) @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Janet Jackson’s Let’s Eat A While is the annual tradition that cranks up the Janet in preparation for Thursday gorging with a special edition of the Disco in the Village party @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Butter Ball is the 10th annual dance party tradition from Chris Coleman Enterprises. This year, look for DJ Diva Power Infiniti (bottom photo) on stage and in the booth, plus a special performance by EJ Aviance & Motion @ Amsterdam, 10 p.m.
