Is A-Rod Madonna’s new bat boy?

It’s a great day for a gay journalist who loves sports when I can write about A-Rod and Madonna in a single post.

Ah, yes. It seems the subject of my long-standing man crush, Alex Rodriguez, and a favorite crooner diva of mine, Madonna, are friends. And when I say friends, I mean it in the most New York tabloid sorta way. Consider that A-Rod is a married manwhore who likes strippers and Madonna is, well, enough said.

The New York tabloids, by the way, are in a feeding frenzy. Headlines this morning scream “A-Rod & Madonna squeeze play” (Post) and “Did A-Rod get to first base?” (Daily News). There’s also been “Madge’s Base Bawl” (Post) and something about A-Rod becoming Madonna’s new bat boy. Here’s what we know:

After months of divorce rumors swirling around Madonna and hubbie Guy Ritchie, Us magazine alleges that the 49-year-old pop star is cavorting with Yankees’ star swinger Alex Rodriguez, 32.

The magazine reported that not only has A-Rod been making late-night visits to Madge’s Central Park West apartment, but he also was at her place soon after his wife, Cindy, gave birth to their second daughter.

The “Holy Cow”-worthy claims come after The Post’s revelations last year that Rodriguez was catting around North America with busty blond stripper Joslyn Morse, and amid recent news Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have been talking to divorce lawyers.

Other “evidence” of the torrid friendship: Madonna sat in A-Rod’s seats at Yankee Stadium on June 22, he went to her “thank you” concert on May 30, they’ve dined together on both coasts and they both share kabbalah, the Jewish mystical practice popularized by Madonna.

I’m not sure if I’m more disturbed by A-Rod stepping out on his wife as she gives birth, or that the slugging stud is apparently doing it with an aging pop star 18 years his senior. He can do better.
