In about the time it takes some couch potatoes to lace up their sneakers, Genesis Henderson bested a field of 800 registrants to win the 5K Run portion of Sunday’s AIDS Walk Atlanta.

He zipped through the 5K route – that’s roughly 3.1 miles for you non-runners – in 16 minutes, 50 seconds, or about 14 seconds faster than Leonel Ayala. Beatrix Ohienmhen took the women’s crown, crossing the finish line in 23 minutes, 56 seconds.

The 5K race kicks off the physical portion of the annual AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run, the 20th rendition of which played out in Piedmont Park on Sunday. The race and the walk started on 10th Street near Monroe Drive, traveled west before hitting Peachtree Street and working its way through Ansley Park and entering Piedmont Park at its 14th Street entrance. The finish line was near Lake Clara Meer.
