HRC Houston grabs its balls and bowls for HERO

HRC Houston swapped its black-tie outfits for multi-colored shoes and costumes on Sunday and took to the lanes of Palace Bowling to cocktail, bowl and call attention to HERO.

The city's LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination ordinance – up for a public vote on Nov. 3 – was front and center at HRC's annual bowling event, dubbed Bowling for HEROES. Participants dressed as their favorite hero or wore those bright red HERO t-shirts. It's a gay event, so of course prizes were dished out for Best Villain, Best Duo and Best Legs in Tights.

The event came a day after HRC Houston supporters joined a HERO rally at Resurrection MCC. Lane Lewis, the gay chair of the Harris County Democratic Party and City Council candidate, attended the bowling event.
