How to go Big Wig or go home this weekend

One of gay Atlanta’s favorite theme parties returns this weekend, and we take some cues from past parties to offer some hints on taking the pre-requisite headgear to full-tilt fabulous at the Big Wig 7 party.

The annual fundraising party for Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus goes bad this year, and we mean that in a good way. Saturday’s extravaganza carries the Big Wigs Gone Bad theme, so bring your evil, witchy best to see if you can be the baddest bitch of the night. For your trouble, you'll enjoy performances, amazing raffles, the joy of helping AGMC and of course fabulous cocktails.

But before you simply slap on a hairdo and head over to Bill Lowe Gallery this weekend, be warned that bragging rights don't come easy. The hair can be outrageously gravity defying, and the competition is fierce for the most over-the-top ensemble. These folks bring their best every single year.

To wit, we’ve compiled the photo tips below to inspire your look for 2015. Dive in with us and remember: Big Wig means don’t be afraid to go big. Really big. Need more? Go down the rabbit hole of past Big Wigs in our galleries from 2014, 2013201220112010 and 2009.

Size matters. When AGMC says ‘Big,’ they mean it.

Dress to impress.

Do it with boys.

Like mohawk boys.

Nature boys.

Afro boys.

Naked afro boys.

Go full drag queen.

Or drag king.

Of course you can serve Real Girl.

Do it with a friend.

Do it with curls.

Or pony tails.

Or beehives.

Say it with flowers.

Or color.

Your look can inspire a grin.

Or abject terror.

Finally, make sure your Big Wig looks as good from the front.

As it does from the back.
