And that’s a wrap.
The Open Division of the Hotlanta Softball League wrapped up its season on Sunday with the Commissioner’s Cup, finishing up after being rained out on July 13. The one-day tournament determined the league’s final berths to the Gay Softball World Series next month in Seattle.
On Sunday, the Packers (C) and the Muddawgs (D) won their respective classes at the Commissioner’s Cup and will be joining nine other HSL teams at the World Series in late August.
Of the three HSL teams that won titles at the World Series last year, two – the Venom from the Open Division and the Riptide from the Women’s Division – will return to defend their crowns. The other team, the Wet Demons, was knocked out of the Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday and won’t return to the Series.
HSL’s Women’s Division finishes its season on Sunday. Games begin at 9 a.m.
