Teams from the Hotlanta Softball League took to the fields last weekend, just weeks ahead of the league’s Opening Day set for March 22.
The opening of practice is part of a busy pre-season for HSL, which also kicked off a series of new player sign up sessions last weekend. Additional registration and recruitment events for new players include Feb. 7 (Stagedoor, 1 p.m. to p.m.; Eagle, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Feb. 8 (BJ Roosters, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Woofs, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Feb. 14 (Starbucks at Ansley, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Bellissima, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Feb. 15 (FROGS Cantina, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Paris/Decatur, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and Feb. 21 (Starbucks at Ansley, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
The league also scheduled a meet and greet event for new players on Feb. 22 and a clinic for returning players on March 8. Ten weeks of games open on March 22 and stretch to mid June.
The HSL Challenge, the league’s annual tournament that draws teams from across the country, is being held in early July, moving it from its traditional Memorial Day Weekend date.
