Capacity crowds packed Cathedral of St. Philip on Friday and Saturday for three performances of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus‘ annual holiday concert, a long-running mainstay of the local holiday season.
The tradition continued with the 2010 “Holiday Lights” show. In addition to new holiday material for the chorus, the show also featured a few AGMC signatures. This year saw a new two-chorus twist on an a cappella version of “Ave Maria” with the Young Singers of Callanwolde.
“Holiday Lights” was also peppered with lighter seasonal fare. TV favorites from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” meshed in the program right alongside holiday classics.
The three concerts—one on Friday night and two on Saturday (photos)—also premiered a new work by composer David Conte.
