In the battle to save Houston's Equal Rights Ordinance, there are celebrity endorsements. And then there's Hillary Clinton.
The Democratic frontrunner for president tweeted her support for HERO on Thursday, the latest in a growing cadre of A-list names coming out for the ordinance in the closing days of the campaign to save it.
No one should face discrimination for who they are or who they love—I support efforts for equality in Houston & beyond. #HERO #YesOnProp1 -H

Also Thursday, Oscar-winning actress Sally Field capped a two-day swing through Houston to personally put her stamp of approval on the city's non-discrimination ordinance. Field's youngest son, Sam, is gay.

Also Thursday, gay actor Matt Bomer – who grew up in Spring – backed HERO in a fundraising letter for HRC.
“The messages being broadcast across Houston attacking LGBT people in an attempt to repeal the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) go beyond misleading – they're horrifying,” Bomer wrote in an email for HRC. “These malicious ads, funded with a lot of money from anti-equality opponents, slander innocent people with slogans like “no men in women's bathrooms” and imply transgender Houstonians want non-discrimination protections as a means to abuse children.”

The endorsements from Clinton, Field and Boner are the latest in a last-minute push to save the ordinance before voters decide HERO's fate on Tuesday.
“Modern Family” actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita, former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro – now HUD secretary and Democratic wunderkind, and pro jocks Jason Collins and Galveston native Michael Sam have also endorsed HERO.
HERO opponents can only offer a guy with a sword and another with a gun and badge.
