‘Hey, girl, hey!’ to Fringe Fest performer [video]

Even before he hits the Atlanta Fringe Festival in May, it’s time to give some big gay love and a warm welcome dripping with Southern hospitality to spoken word artist and storyteller Les Kurkendaal. He’s happy to make the introductions.

Kurkendaal wants you. Well, at the very least, the L.A.-based performer wants your butts in seats for his Fringe Festival show, “Christmas in Bakersfield.” It shows at Wonderoot May 10-13. As he explains in his video above, the show should hit home with gAy-TL audiences, especially those in interracial relationships.

“Bakersfield” is about a holiday visit with his boyfriend’s parents – only the parent’s didn’t know he was black. Comedy and heartfelt revelations ensue. Press play to meet Les with a cameo by his boyfriend, or visit the Atlanta Fringe Festival site for more information.
