Now we know why some gays support Georgia pizza king Herman Cain’s presidential bid despite his “gays are sinners” approach: His campaign is a hotbed of gay sex.
Cain’s place among the ranks of GOP presidential prospects had been on the rise of late, until his campaign suffered failings similar to those of another Georgia presidential contender, Newt Gingrich – staff turmoil and departures in politically important states including Iowa.
What prompted the defections? Politico summed it up like this:
The move, which shakes the campaign of the tea party favorite into turmoil in a state where he’s staking much of his 2012 hopes, comes after weeks of swirling rumors between Cain’s staff and volunteers in the Hawkeye State accusing each other of affairs, homosexuality and professional misconduct. “A lot of volunteers, who worked hard for five months, are all leaving the campaign,” said one Iowa volunteer.A Cain spokesperson tells Salon the report is fluffed like, well, the actors on any good gay porn set. As for the question of whether Cain would take on any gay staffers in the first place – he has said they would be welcome in his White House – the spokesperson quipped this: “It is illegal to discriminate.” Except it’s not in most states – including Georgia -- when you’re gay.
