Help gay steppers Prancing Elites fight the haters

You already know that crew of brave young gay synchronized performers is in a full-on battle royale for gay rights in backwater Alabama. As the small-minded haters pile on the hate and the big-name lovers continue to love, here’s how you can help.

Need to make an LGBT stand deep in the deep South? Don’t get fancy, just get dancey. That’s what the Prancing Elites do. They got on the LGBT map with a big gay viral video, then the five high-energy butt shakers created a Christmas kerfuffle with sassy synchronized Santas making eyes pop and tongues wag at a small town Alabama Christmas parade last week.

As the rednecks gasped, the gay world cheered when the guys stood their ground. Fabulously. Talk in gay Atlanta meandered from praise and their Atlanta Pride potential to possible guest spots with Baton Bob.

Even further from home, the Elites got a Twitter shout-out from 2013 breakout star Laverne Cox. Just like the Shaquill O'Neill love that sent their notoriety skyrocketing the first time, the transgender “Orange is the New Black” actress is all about the lady boy sensations from her own hometown of Mobile, Ala.

So what are divine divas to do with all that attention? Kickstarter, girl! The proud prancers hope to turn their latest blast of publicity into operating cash via a crowd-funding campaign (video above). It's so successful that their goal has gone up by thousands since Christmas. Read their story and get in on it by Dec. 31.

As if on cue, their own home of Mobile has banned them from the city’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Banned! That kind of misguided bigotry just adds fuel to their PR fire, so go on, Mobile officials. Be that way, please! And you go on too, Elites. Go. On!
