The Gwinnett Braves, the new Class AAA of the Braves, will open the season on the road beginning April 9.

After an eight-game road trip, they return home and start play April 17 in a new $49 million stadium taking shape in Gwinnett. Sometime soon, the team will unveil the name of its new mascot, the goofy whistlepig that will no doubt delight fans next season who paid for much of the new stadium.

The 2009 campaign will be the team’s first in metro Atlanta after 43 years in Richmond, Va. See the full schedule here.
