The Atlanta Gay Sports Alliance couldn’t have asked for better weather on Sunday to try and convince new recruits that spending their spring outdoors taking part in a vibrant LGBT sports scene is the way to go.
But it’s not really a tough sell for the eight member organizations of AGSA, which held a recruitment event at Hudson Grille in Midtown. There are indoor and outdoor options for LGBT jocks, whether they come to the pitch or pool with little experience or a closet full of awards and accolades from achievements past.
Several of the AGSA groups are launching their spring seasons, including the Atlanta Bucks Rugby Football Club who hit the pitch on Saturday. The National Flag Football League of Atlanta holds mini-camps on Saturday and Sunday and the league’s registration deadline is Feb. 28. The Hotlanta Softball League returns to the fields March 21. The Hotlanta Soccer Association also hits the field each week with practices and games.
Other AGSA members — Atlanta Rainbow Trout, Front Runners Atlanta, Atlanta Team Tennis Association and Hotlanta Volleyball Association — host activities year-round. Check for their schedules by clicking on our events calendar and then selecting just “sports” at the top of the page.
