The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus treated audiences to its annual holiday concert series earlier this month with fare from across the globe during performances in the regal Cathedral of St. Philip in Buckhead.
“December Detours” unfolded over two nights and three performances Dec. 11-12 featuring work from North America, France, Taiwan, Germany, the Ukraine and more. There was a solid-brass ensemble on hand and a sleigh full of elves to serenade as well. Holiday favorites made the lineup — including “Deck the Hall,” “Still, Still, Still,” “Carol of the Bells” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas” — and the chorus also sang in Taiwanese for the first time.
Kevin Robison (bottom photo) teased AGMC fans on his blog before the Dec. 11 concert:
I always love concert days, and especially these concert days. At a time when the world may seem to be against us — whether by the economy, persecution or inequality — AGMC is standing and singing strong, demonstrating our commitment to better living through music.
