imageOne of gay Atlanta’s most dependable traditions is the annual AGMC holiday concerts that bring 100 voices, bell ringers, St. Philip’s acoustics and diehard fans together for songs of the season.

From contemporary to classics, this year’s Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus concerts – “Bells in Boyland” – on Friday as well as two performances on Saturday (photos) found the giant Cathedral of St. Philip’s organ in perfect tune as the chorus was joined by the Atlanta Concert ringers and international vocalist Dwight Coleman.

imageUnder the watchful eyes of Artistic Director Kevin Robison and new Executive Director Crystal Anderson, the 2011 concert repertoire included pop hits like “Silver Bells” as well as gospel-inspired songs like “Judah and his Maccabees” to acknowledge Hanukkah, culminating in the auditory orgasm of Ralph Vaughn Williams’ concert centerpiece “Fantasia on Christmas Carols.”

Chorus members uniformly rank AGMC holiday concerts among their fondest memories of the group’s rich 30-year history.
