MORE PHOTOS | The people make an epic gay day for Houston Pride
The rainbow revelry of the Houston Pride parade brought together more than 100 participants and an adoring crowd of tens of thousands of people on Saturday. Carnivale, indeed.
There were porn stars, go-go boys and grand marshals – JD Doyle, Christina Gorczynski, Sara and Fernando Aramburo, and celeb Mondo Guerra – mixing with drag queens – including Phi Phi O'Hara, Jiggly Caliente, Alaska Thunderfuck and Hot Chocolate – gay cops and firefighters, gay-friendly politicians stumping for your votes and several religious organizations ready to help you repent your cocktailing sins from a weekend full of Pride. And did we mention the hunks? Lots of them.
Houston's elected officials showed up in force, too. Mayor Annise Parker and wife Kathy Hubbard were front and center. Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia and several deputies made the department's first-ever appearance. LGBT advocate and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson did the parade in a white convertible. Gay City Council member Mike Laster was there, too, as was council colleague Robert Gallegos.
The hours-long nighttime romp through Montrose, broadcast online and on TV for the first time, snaked along Westheimer between Dunlavy and a few blocks past Montrose.
