Gay Houston parties with purpose for Bunnies on the Bayou

Easter hunks, boys in their best bonnets and gays in bunny ears flooded Fish Plaza on Sunday to party with a purpose and raise big bucks during Bunnies on the Bayou 37.

The buildup up to the afternoon of cocktailing craziness started in January when the Snow Bunnies crawled out from hibernation to kick off the fundraising season at F Bar. They raffled their big baskets in March and there were several other events that culminated with Sunday's big Easter holigay celebration. You can thank all those hard-working volunteers that help make it possible.

The event this year benefitted some 22 LGBT, HIV and other charitable groups across Houston. The list includes AIDS Foundation Houston, AssistHers, Bering Omega, Homeless Gay Kids Houston, Houston Gaymers, Houston Pride Band, Human Rights Campaign, Lesbian Health Initiative and Montrose Center.

Last year, Bunnies dished out $121,000 to its beneficiaries.

After the five-hour outdoor cocktail party wrapped, there was more partying to do. Hundreds of gays hopped on over to F Bar for the official after party.
