imageIn business, the motto “go big or go home” often rules the day. So when the Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce hosted its signature event on Friday, the gay business group embraced the adage.

More than 300 people attended the annual Community Awards Dinner, a gala event that celebrates LGBT business people and the businesses that support them. What better place to host such an event? A ballroom at the W Atlanta Midtown, a brand that knows a thing or two about mixing business with an upscale environment.

AGLCC handed out six awards ranging from Member of the Year to Corporate Ally and also recognized Linda Bryant, who started Charis Books & More in 1974, with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

image“I’m only 62; I’m not done yet,” Bryant said at the event Friday. “I want to accept this award in the context of community because the award really belongs to this amazing community that has supported, informed and shaped Charis over the years.”

Other award recipients:

Business Woman of the Year
Renee Weese, Minerva Planning Group

Business Man of the Year
