Gay candidates: Shaking hands, raising cash

The summer of retail politics is in full swing and two gay candidates are holding events in the coming days to meet voters and raise funds.

imageOn Wednesday, Adam Brackman holds a two-hour event at Cypress Street Pint & Plate in Midtown. Brackman, who recently picked up the endorsement of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, is running for the Post 1 At Large seat on the Atlanta City Council.

The neighborhood activist and IBM manager announced his campaign in late May.

imageOn July 23, Kyle Williams holds a fundraiser at the Ansley home of two longtime gay political activists. The list of sponsors for the event is a bipartisan collection of the city’s LGBT elite and is also supported by Stonewall Democrats, Log Cabin Republicans of Georgia and Georgia Equality.

Williams, an attorney, recently received endorsements from two progressive state lawmakers and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund in his run for the Decatur City Commission. He announced his campaign April 23.
