Classic? Cosmo? Apple? That’s as tough as the choices got for Matt Rinker, a gay man running for the Atlanta City Council, during a campaign event on Wednesday in Midtown.
Martinis With Matt at Fifth Ivory was one of Rinker’s first formal fundraisers since launching his effort in January to unseat incumbent Council member Natalyn Archibong, who is seeking a fourth term representing District 5. The district includes East Atlanta, Cabbagetown, Glenwood Park, Edgewood, Reynoldstown, East Lake and stretches along Decatur Street into downtown to grab a portion of the Georgia State University campus.
If Rinker (top photo right) wins the November election, he would become the council’s second openly gay member, joining Alex Wan.
