Atlanta gay chamber honors its leaders, angels

When the Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce gets together, you know LGBT professionals are taking care of business. When it’s their annual Community Awards Dinner, the group ups the ante.

AGLCC's Friday night gala at Intercontinental Buckhead doled out dinner to the well heeled crowd and handed out honors to the people who make local gay-owned business buzz. As announced before the event, the AGLCC Lifetime Achievement Award went to Beth Schapiro, and the Vanguard Award went to gay celebrity chef and local restaurateur Art Smith. Former gay news hunk Brandon Rudat served as emcee and as half of the night’s brewing celebrity bromance.

Getting their “and the winner is” moments amid a sea of worthy nominees were Coca-Cola Company’s Pamela Stewart as Business Woman of the Year and MixIt Marketing’s Rick Kern as Business Man of the Year. Lesbian-helmed Kardon Technologies won AGLCC Member of the Year, Atlanta Pride Committee accepted the Guardian Angel trophy, and W Atlanta Midtown was named Corporate Ally.
