Gay Atlanta blasts off on Fourth of July Eve

Add this share

The only people who care more than you do that Wednesday is your day off are Atlanta’s gay bars. Never letting you down the night before a holigay, Heretic, Cockpit and Mary’s make sure you’re a firework on Tuesday.

Most of your favorite bars are open and doing their thing with a little red, white and blue flair on Tuesday, but just check in first for Wednesday to be sure your favorite spot is open. A few of the bars are giving employees the holiday off, but most are cocktailing while others are even cooking out for your Fourth of July pleasure.

Here are our favorite special events for the mid-week holigay.

Tuesday, July 3
IndepenDANCE! with DJ Lydia Prim welcomes all comers for stiff cheap drinks and the beats to move your feet @ Heretic, 10 p.m. Free admission before 11 p.m.

All American Bear Dance Party welcomes all “proud, sexy, red-blooded American gay men” to pop off like a firework with the fuzzy dudes @ Cockpit Atlanta, 9 p.m.

The Great American Ain’t No Work Tomorrow Mary-oke makes the most of its premise “The only thing better than a bunch of fireworks on the 4th of July is tons of cocktails on the 3rd of July!” Gay Atlanta’s rowdiest weekly karaoke with CJ gets an all-American makeover with prizes to the best singers all night @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Wednesday, July 4
Fourth of July Cookout gives you grub to go with your holigay drinks @ Oscar’s, 2 p.m.

Red, Hot & Blu Cookout & Go-Go Boys starts the grill @ Friends On Ponce, 4 p.m. then the BJ Roosters Dancers climb onboard, 5 p.m.
