We kind of have a thing for blogger Mark King. Not that way; more like a sister. One who fascinates us with unapologetic boldness. Now the most prominent of gay newsies think he's awesome too.
The National Gay & Lesbian Journalists Association may be unknown to people outside the industry, but it’s well regarded among LGBT reporters and editors across the country. So color us impressed when King’s name popped up on the organization’s list of 2014 honorees for Excellence in Journalism. Not surprised, but impressed.
“My Fabulous Disease” was recognized for this year’s Excellence in Blogging award. And one look at King’s contributions makes it easy to see why. His work is a favorite acquired taste for national sites like Queerty and the Huffington Post, and local gays like us who just can’t look away from tough conversations like confessions of a teenage slutpuppy and 20-something phone-sex worker, or King creating HIV dustups about bludgeoning people with our history or shocking sero-sorted opinions.
Congratulations to King. We’ll be sure to keep up with his online escapades. You can too.
