Ga. Senate kills only perk left for gays: incest

imageThe Georgia Senate voted with unanimity and speed on Thursday to close a loophole in state law and strip gay couples of the only advantage they enjoy over their heterosexually-coupled neighbors.

The Georgia Senate — hell, the entire General Assembly — is so bent on making sure that same-sex couples in the state know how much they despise them that they’ve banned gay marriage in the state. Twice, the last time coming in 2004 courtesy of a constitutional amendment.

On Thursday, lawmakers apparently realized that those sexaholic gays enjoyed a perk that they — and their straightness — can’t get away with: Having sex with your same-sex kid or parent.

Sure, you could still be charged with rape like the straight folks, but if you took part in gay incest, it seems that you couldn’t face prosecution for it.

So, with speed not often seen under the Gold Dome — unless you count how swiftly the House last week derailed an anti-bullying bill that was on course for an OK — the Senate voted 42-0 to ban incest among same-sex partners.

Yes, it seems that in Georgia, having sex with mom or dad (or your kid) was legal as long as it was gay. How quaint.

What does that mean? That if a man rapes his son, or a woman rapes her daughter, that person would also be charged with incest, along with rape or sodomy.

Sen. Preston Smith (R-Rome), who sponsored the bill, said the code on the books now is gender specific and totally disregards same-sex rape.
