Friends rally to support deceased man’s partner

Friends of a fallen gay Atlanta man are leaning on the Cure, a touching video tribute and crowdsourcing to raise funds to help the dead man's partner.

Donnie Reider, an HIV-positive photographer and former curator of the MondoHomo Art Show, died on Nov. 10, friends say. Ten days later, they launched an online campaign to raise $3,000 to support Reider's partner, Chris Hogan Lay.

Chris needs help to survive this loss, and to carry on with his life. He needs both economic and emotional support. But without the economic support, he will not be able to meet the necessities of life that do not stop in the face of Adversity

A video created for the Donnie Reider Memorial Fund includes photos of Reider, set to the Cure's "Just Like Heaven," and background about the fundraising effort. Since its Nov. 20 launch, the campaign has collected $2,075.

As some of Donnie's oldest friends, we have come together to help and support Chris Hogan Lay after losing Donnie on Nov.10th to an infection after living with HIV for 15 years.

Donnie was a remarkable man, who touched the lives of all of his friends, and any of those he met, in ways that changed the world.

Death is a tragedy in our lives, and has impacts upon the lives of Loved Ones beyond simply the sorrow and grief of the loss of that Loved One.
