Food truck for equality coming to town near you

Whether it’s a staple of your gay bear diet, or it’s your go-to cheat after the gym, we love a BLT. As it happens, we love our LGBT too of course. Put the two together and be ready for the BLgT Truck this summer.

The BLgT USA campaign to bring bacon sandwiches to the people – and support for the LGBT community centers of CenterLink – hits the road in May. Stops on the 57-city tour include Atlanta on July 21 and Houston on Sept. 19. Atlanta’s Phillip Rush Center and Houston’s Montrose Center are CenterLink members.

A Kickstarter campaign to make your gay food truck dreams come true is in full swing. The plan is two-fold: Learn about issues, and eat for equality.

The BLgTUSA Truck will be a vehicle (heyyy, truck puns!) to share the stories of real people (activists, chefs, centers, you, your mom), spark local conversations about national issues, and get people out for equality in every state.

Partner chefs commit to creating their own BLgT sandwich, and putting it on the menu for the duration of the 4 month BLgTUSA Tour. NOTE: The “g” is whatever chefs want it to be. Gouda, guacamole, a side cup of gazpacho… you get it. Expect a few chef “throw downs” for the cause. And YES! There will be a veg friendly option.

Proceeds from BLgT sandwiches go towards local LGBT Community Centers, that have and will continue to be, heroic boots on the ground. YOU will have the opportunity to support Centers locally by buying a BLgT sandwich in your home state ALL SUMMER LONG!

Unlike last year's less ambitious Big Gay Ice Cream tour, BLgT USA organizers hope to reach 1 million people during the first 50-state tour of its kind. As of Tuesday, they raised $29,000 in an effort to reach $150,000 by Feb. 15. While you drool over your date with bacon destiny, learn more about and contribute to the cause.
