imageThere’s the kickball you remember from days on the playground. And then there’s the kickball from the Order of the Flaming Sugarbakers. That’s what unfolded inside Piedmont Park Saturday during Pride.

The sisters – they bill themselves as an order of 21st century nuns dedicated to bringing cosmic joy through their community outreach and activism – organized the kickball tournament to coincide with the Atlanta Pride Festival. The first-of-its-kind event added a little sporty side to the full slate of entertainers, marketplace and food vendors inside the park.

The event also included guest referee Chandler Bearden (photo right), who won the Mr. Atlanta Eagle title in April.
