Flag football, softball ready for training camps

With seasons on the horizon, the National Flag Football League of Atlanta and the Hotlanta Softball League are hitting the fields this weekend for their annual camps to train and evaluate new members while also getting veterans returned to their playing form.

On Saturday, the flag footballers will stage a two-hour workout at Peachtree Hills Park. The session is designed to be fun as well as bring new players up to speed on the league. The season opens March 22.

On Sunday, softball players will return to the diamonds for a seven-hour event that concludes with a friendly scrimmage. The clinic, set for the Metro Atlanta Softball Complex, typically draws more than 50 participants for instruction in pitching, catching, batting and fielding. The season opens March 30.
