Emory University gets overrun by the gays

imageThe gays are overtaking Emory University’s campus. Or at least the Atlanta school’s Office of LGBT Life. Surprised? You shouldn’t be — the school is so gay friendly that it really ought to host Pride.

In just two years, the Office of LGBT Life – which provides a safe place for gay students while offering training and support – has seen a surge in student visits so big that it’s going to need more real estate in Dobbs University Center. The office has notched a 239 percent increase in student visits from the 2008-09 academic year to 2010-2011.

With numbers like that, you’d think they’re hosting a recruiting drive for Gay 101 and giving out toasters as door prizes to try to comfort all those lesbians until graduation.

How gay-friendly is the place? Emory’s gay love starts with its president, James Wagner, and carries into hosting a gay bishop, a lesbian author and a gay mayoral candidate.

Not convinced? There’s the Hope Clinic and its HIV research, along with the annual cavalcade of gay and lesbian cyclists who raise tons of money for it. They research the gay couples, too, and host LGBT volleyballers. They advise the parents of the gays and commemorate World AIDS Day. And call someone a “faggot” near their campus and they take action – quickly.

Emory is so Takei.
