Dream can’t wake from nightmare

The streak stands at 10.

With one more loss, the Atlanta Dream will own second place on a dubious list – the most consecutive losses to open a WNBA season. With their 88-79 loss to Houston on Monday, the Dream reached a winless count of 10 to open the 2008 season.

That ties Houston, which lost 10 to start the 2007 season. Detroit owns the record at 13, the number of loses they reached before finally notching a win to open the 2002 season. The upside is that a year later, Detroit went on to win the WNBA title and became the first expansion team to do so.

The Dream plays again on Wednesday when San Antonio (6-4) visits Philips Arena.
