Downtown rooftop hosts social group

imageThe upscale gay mixer Social Tuesdays ventured downtown this week, attracting a diverse crowd for socializing, drinks and great views.

Maxim Prime at the Glenn Hotel on Marietta Street provided the setting on Tuesday for the third installment of Social Tuesdays, which brings together a gay and lesbian crowd at a different local hot spot each week. The casually elegant steakhouse offers a rooftop bar that provides stunning views of the city.

The evening provided a nice peek into the Glenn Hotel, which earlier this year completed a $2.5 million renovation, and Maxim, the first of what famed restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow hopes will become 25 restaurants in the next five years in partnership with men’s magazine Maxim. The renovations replaced the hotel’s former restaurant B.E.D., which hosted the last gay gay gathering of any size at the space in July 2006. That’s when the now-defunct Big Gay Supper Club visited, filling the restaurant and the rooftop.

Social Tuesdays launched on Sept. 30 at the Geisha House in Atlantic Station. On Oct. 7, it hit Tongue & Groove in Lindbergh City Center. View photo albums from those events here and here.

The event continues Oct. 21, though a location hasn’t yet been announced.
