Diva! flips Jungle’s Saturday on its ear [photos]

They promised different. Diva! delivered. The partiers behind the Saturday event and their guests served fierceness amidst a widely varied performance showcase that left Jungle gagging for more.

And the club is going to get it. Promoter and singer Barry Brandon (top photo, left) promised to give gay Atlanta nightlife a jolt, and the new Diva! event was just the beginning.

“You bettah run to this,” Brandon told Project Q to tease the event. “Where else can you have singers, dancers, drag queens, two DJs, boys, girls and the cutest guest bartender at the same place at the same time?”

That’s right. Diva! wasn’t just a dance party. Performances included recording artist Kat Solar, vocalist Marcus Allen, an outrageous number by “Glitz” creator Corian Ellisor, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestant Mariah Balenciaga (top photo, center), dancer-choreographer Michael Robinson, and local drag personality Evah Destruction.

Next up for Brandon and crew: an elimination singing competition with live auditions Dec. 12 and “X Factor” style shows each week at Jungle to follow in January. And keep an eye out for the annual Glitter & Fur New Year’s Eve party as the group finalizes plans.
