Diana Awards salute gay Houston for 63rd year

The biggest and oldest gala show that gay Houston offers unfolded on Saturday as the 63rd Annual Diana Awards delighted a big crowd at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

The event, which traces its roots to an Oscars watch party in 1953, offered performances, a live band, an open bar and gay radio personality Chad Pitt hosting it all, one of his last LGBT events before he moves to Orlando. His last day at Mix 96.5 FM was Friday.

The event also honored City Council member Ellen Cohen, a staunch LGBT ally. The annual event this year raised funds that will benefit AIDS Foundation Houston, Botts Collection: University of Houston Endowment, Homeless Gay Kids-Houston, Lesbian Health Initiative Houston, and University of Houston LGBTQ Resource Center.
