When it comes to raising money against breast cancer, nobody puts quite the spin on it like DJ Vicki Powell, who drew a crowd to Bellissima on Saturday with her latest Titty Titty Bang Bang benefit.
With her “Cancer Sucks” t-shirt looming above the throbbing dance floor and her pounding fists raised even higher than that, Powell set fundraising to the beat of her own drummer, much to the delight of the diverse mix of lesbians and their friends.
The “Get Into It” mantra of all her Powell’s gigs took on special meaning this round with an atmosphere of giving.
While everyone enjoyed the music, the go-go dancers and each other, they partied just a little harder knowing that 100 percent of proceeds from the second annual event were earmarked for the breast cancer programs at Atlanta Lesbian Health Initiative.
